Over 7.000 cross-country skiing lovers plus several long-distance specialists gathered in Italy’s Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa to enjoy the Marcialonga skiing event, last January. A celebration of the discipline, but also an exciting and unique opportunity to ski throughout the two valleys at the feet of amazing Dolomites, this is what Marcialonga offers every year and now it’s time to seriously think about the 2015 running, scheduled on Sunday 25 January.
Entries for Italy’s most popular ski-marathon will officially open on Tuesday 1st July, when the “Granfondo” cycling race will be carried to its 8th arrival.
The only way to book your individual bib will be through the website with payment via credit card only. You better pencil the day if you don’t want to be left empty handed.
The Organising Committee already confirmed the Marcialonga Story vintage event on the eve of the ski-marathon, an incredible chance to experience the true, ancient spirit of XC skiing, wearing original equipment only. On the official Marcialonga webpage, inside the Events area, do check the past two chapters and enjoy the videos of each year in different formats.
In order to jump back on the Marcialonga saddle, you won’t necessarily have to wait until next January nor July. On Sunday 29 June, the Marcialonga Cycling Craft road race will carry participants through the alpine passes of Monte San Pietro, Lavazé, San Pellegrino and Valles, depending on the course choice, ‘Long’ (135k) or ‘Short’ (80k), both kicking off in Predazzo town centre.
Entries to the 2014 Marcialonga Cycling Craft event are open (check www.marcialonga.it, Facebook and Twitter) and the OC already registered an increase of 20% compared to 2013 race, in the same time of the year.
Once all the bicycles cross the finish line at the end of next month, everything will be ready for the 2015 Marcialonga bib hunt. The place to be is www.marcialonga.it on 1 July.
