Roman Fosti managed to repeat his last year win at the SEB 32nd Tartu Jooksumaraton and won with a new Estonian track record – 1:15:30.
Fosti outran his opponents with more than three minutes. “My objective today was to run with a good feeling and to have a good preparation for the full length marathon which is my main goal this year,” said Fosti. “Last year it was more like a run of suffering. This year it was enjoyable”.
Second was Dmitri Aristov with a time of 1:18:39. “Today was very hard race. But fortunately I managed to sprint in the last 500 metres and secure second place,” said Aristov who beat Ivar Ivanov at the finish line.
“Straight from the start it was clear that we had no chance against Fosti today,” said Ivanov who finished third with a time of 1:18:42.
Evelin Talts was best in the ladies race. She won Tartu Jooksumaraton also two years ago. “When I looked at the starting list, it seemed to be quite realistic to win today,” said Talts who finished 69th overall with a time of 1:32:16. “I haven’t had a chance to improve my running form lately. I ran several minutes slower than my record here, but I’m still very happy with the first place,” she added.
