It all happened in just 10 minutes. Yesterday afternoon, Italy’s Marcialonga OC gave Nordic sports lovers and fans a last chance to collect a bib to the 42nd running of the popular XC race scheduled next 25 January, and the registration area on the official web-site sold out the thousands of tickets available as fast as a blink of an eye, or just a little longer. The 7.500 athletes entry limit was reached in a record time and thousands of so-called ‘bisons’ from all over the planet may now get ready to the next winter season and next Marcialonga amongst the Italian Dolomites. The two Marcialonga courses are confirmed, 70k in classic technique from Moena to Cavalese and 45k CT from Moena to Predazzo.
Marcialonga has always been part of the Worldloppet federation, the international federation of XC skiing marathons that recently grown to 20 members by accepting four new races as Associate Members in Argentina, New Zealand, Iceland and China. Italy’s Marcialonga is also included in the FIS Marathon Cup and Ski Classics series.
Several side events will be taking place during the 2015 Marcialonga week end such as Marcialonga Young, Marcialonga Stars, the Marcialonga Story vintage promo race and Minimarcialonga for children.
