The last few days have brought vast amounts of snow to Lienz/ East Tyrol, guaranteeing the optimal conditions for the 40th Dolomitenlauf. 42 km of trails have already been prepared for the Dolomites Classic Race in Obertilliach. Numerous national teams will be visiting Obertilliach over the next few weeks to prepare for the Olympics in Sotschi and will be able to enjoy the dreamy winter landscapes of East Tyrol. 2000 participants from all over the world have already registered for the 40th Dolomitenlauf, which will be a big anniversary event. These include numerous elite teams from various nations hoping to clock up valuable points for the FIS Marathon Cup. The ongoing successful series by Italian marathon specialists can be completed at the 40th Dolomitenlauf. Teams from Russian, Spain, Norway and Sweden have the sought-after victory in their sights. The Austria national team will also be bringing their top participants to the Dolomitensprint and Dolomitenlauf.
The ‘Dolomitenlauf Games’ will start on 16 January with the Romantiklauf in Lavant as a welcome greeting to all guests from near and far. On Friday 17 January, another highlight will take place in the form of the legendary Dolomitensprint in the main square in Lienz. The Dolomites Classic Race in Obertilliach will take place on 18 January and will be a special event this year. The crowning finale will be the 40th Dolomitenlauf in Lienz which will finish in the town centre after 60 km. The Worldloppet will also be celebrating an anniversary at the 40th Dolomitenlauf. This global association was first launched in Lienz 35 years ago. So there is a great deal to celebrate in addition to the dream conditions at the 40th Dolomitenlauf.
