Tartu Maraton Open Track and Tartu Relay Marathon will take place this Sunday according to plan from Otepää to Elva.
Organizers of Tartu Maraton discussed today whether the Open Track events and Tartu Relay Marathon will be skied on the original 63km track from Otepää to Elva or whether the track should be shortened to 47km with the finish in Palu.
“Yesterdays’ snowfall gave us reason to organize the event on the original 63km track. Last 16km of the course are still not perfect but the course is satisfactory there. First 47km from Otepää to Palu is still in near perfect conditions,” said Tartu Maraton race director Indrek Kelk.
“Today I can say that there is still no doubt that Tartu Maraton main race on the 15th of February will also take place. If the weather conditions stay normal and the Open Track events will be successful, than I think we can organize the main race also on the original 63km course,” added Kelk.
4th Tartu Relay Marathon and Open Track races (63km, 31km, 16km) take place on the 8th of February, week before the main races. Open Track races are a perfect opportunity to test yourself before the main race and also to get acquainted with conditions on the course.
