The Demino Ski Marathon weekend is over with great snow conditions for the 25 km CT Worldloppet race and traditional Russian Mardi Gras.
Winter doesn’t want to leave Russian Demino and brings a perfect day for a silver 25 km CT Worldloppet half-marathon. Today Demino started the race day with a Baby-marathon for children from 4 to 7 years old followed by two races 5 km CT and 10 km CT for juniors.
Nikolay Bolotov won the race with the result 00:59:43.62, Andrey Zhogin was 15 second behind the leader. Sergey Yachkov became the third on the podium with the result 1:00:06.75.
On the ladies’ side, Tatyana Yambaeva, World Champion in speed roller ski, took the victory with a 1 min 30 sec. gap to Olga Rumyantseva on the final straight. Elena Matveeva, the absolute winner of the Demino Marathons Cup 2015-2016, was the third. Natascia Leonardi Cortesi became the 4th 37 seconds behind the bronze medallist. Yuliya Surikova, World Champion in winter triathlon, closed the top six podium among ladies.
Demino hosted honorable Worldloppet Masters, cross-country legends Lars Hannes Larsson, 27xWorldloppet Master from France, and Ludmila kolobanova, 11xWorldloppet Master from Russia.
"I have been on skies for 82 years... I'm a 27xWorldloppet Master! It's an amazing experience when you meet people from different countries on the course. The Demino Ski Marathon is quite easy for skiers like me, only two challenging uphills", says Larsson.
The marathon weekend ended with a Mardi Gras festive, endless pancakes, and a folklore performance.
