XIV traditional international Rostec Demino FIS/Worldloppet Ski Marathon 2021. Day 2.

Near Rybinsk the day of the race ended with the free style race of the XIII international Rostec Demino ski marathon FIS \ Worldloppet. More than two thousand participants went to the start of 50-kilometer race, more than six thousand people became fans of the bright sporting event. The best results were shown by Raul Shakirzyanov and Alena Perevozchikova.

Athletes and amateurs from 18 countries of the world and 60 regions of Russia took part in the main race of the marathon.

- The weather this year tested us for strength. There was no snow, instead of it rains and plus temperature. But in the end, thanks to the heroic work, the volunteers did everything. The technical delegate inspected the course, it is in perfect condition, ”said Alexander Ignatiev, the director of Demino marathons.

Representatives of the country's ski elite came to support the largest Russian marathon. This is the Olympic champion of Vancouver, the silver medalist of Sochi Olympics 2014 in team sprint, three-time world champion Nikita Kryukov, the Russian champion in cross-country skiing, three-time European champion, biathlete Aleksey Slepov. Foreign athletes include Vancouver silver medalist, German skier Tim Tcharnke and German cyclist, 1988 Seoul Olympics champion Mario Kummer, Swiss skier, Olympic champion, world ski alpinist Natascia Leonardi-Cortesi, Olympic kayaking and Canoe Andraz Vehovar. 65 Worldloppet masters took part in the golden race, 19 skiers took to the start in T-shirts with the name “Legend”.

The winner of XIII international Rostec Demino ski marathon FIS/Worldloppet was Raul Shakirzyanov. He crossed the finish line after 2 hours one minute and 27 seconds after the start. This is his second gold on the Demino course. The first victory took place in 2017. Second place was held by biathlete Aleksey Slepov, he lost to the leader in less than two seconds, and third place was taken by Dmitry Klyukvin. 

The favorite of Rybinsk fans - Nikita Kryukov - came to the finish line with 37 results in the overall standings. After falling and breaking a pole, he overcame in two hours and 14 minutes and reacted with humor to the situation.

- I am pleased that in the women's standings was in the top three. Thanks to all the fans who supported me, ”said the athlete at the finish.

Among women, Alena Perevozchikova, an athlete from Udmurtia, made a gold double. Her result was 2 hours 13 minutes. The second at the finish was Marina Chernousova (2 hours 14 minutes). Third - Svetlana Nikolaeva, representing the Yaroslavl region and the city of Rybinsk. Her result was 2 hours 19 minutes.

For the guests of Demino there were 15 thematic platforms organized by the municipalities of the region: Rybinsk, Yaroslavl, Breytovo, Tutaev, and Rybinsk district. They presented interactive programs dedicated to Shrovetide. The festival "Rybinsk ZavarUha" has remained an unchanged element of the cultural program of Demino marathon for several years. This year, 12 teams from 8 municipalities of the Yaroslavl region took part in the culinary competition. As a part of Demino marathon, the regional festival "YarKraft" was held. Masters of applied art presented their work, everyone could participate in master classes.

March 1 will be the day of classic races of XIII international Rostec Demino ski marathon FIS\Worldloppet. There will be a baby marathon, 2, 5, 10 kilometers races for juniors and silver 25-kilometer race.

11:00 - WORLDLOPPET race at a distance of 25 km classic style (CT). Wave mass - start with an interval of 3 minutes.
