In the heart of the Nordic scenerie of the Doubs and
Jura departments, the mythical Transjurassienne and its 1,000 volunteers
are once again getting ready to welcome over 6,500 skiers from ages 7
to 97, coming from all over the world! All of them are ready to hit the
snowy tracks of the Jura mountain range, in Franche-Comté. As the unique
French event member of the international Worldloppet agenda, La Transju
will gather crowds of enthusiasts, recreational skiers, elite athletes,
Olympic champions as well as families for an extraordinary adventure.
Created in 1979, the initially named “La Progressime”, has come a long
way in the last 33 years: starting with a unique race, it now offers 5
events of various distances, styles and levels. Children are also
important actors of the festivities with the now famous Transjeune, La
Transjurassienne event for one-day young skiers as well as champions to
be, from 7 to 19. They will take their start in Les Rousses ski resort,
on Wednesday, January 30. On the week-end of February 9 and 10, La
Transjurassienne will be the opportunity to (re)discover the pleasure of
self-surpassing through spectacular sceneries between Lamoura (Jura)
and Mouthe (Doubs). Grab your skis and join the Transju adventure!
Something for everyone! You may be a World Champion, an Olympic Medalist
or a recreational skier : La Transjurassienne meets everyone’s
expectations.
Five events are organized over the week-end:
On Saturday, in classic technique: 25km CT and 50km CT
On Sunday, in free technique: 25km FT, 57km FT and 76km FT.
A competition and challenge for some, or a pleasure race for others, it
will certainly remain as an unforgettable adventure for all, from
valleys to summits, across the typical villages of Franche Comté,
between Lamoura and Mouthe.
UltraTrans///A challenge for the ultra-skiers with a taste for the extreme!
The Ultra-Trans is back this year for its 4th edition, to meet the
extreme skiers’ expectations. This demanding challenge will be taken up
by the most experienced skiers ready to cumulate 2 races in 2 days: the
50km CT on Saturday added to the 76km FT on Sunday. Over the week-end,
the athletes will race more than 120 km with the great desire to surpass
themselves and share a unique athletic event.
Wednesday, January 30, 2013///The young cross-country skiing adventurers take up la Transjeune!
The Champions to be are invited to participate in the 23rd Transjeune,
La Transjurassienne’s youngest sister event! This race dedicated to
children is organized in partnership with USEP and UNSS. 2,500 young
skiers will compete in Les Rousses ski resort. A good opportunity for
them to combine the pleasure of gliding with a lot of fun. Each and
everyone, from 7 to 19, will strive to reach the finish line, with the
great feeling of being part of the true Transjurassienne, just like
famous champions such as Jason Lamy Chappuis have done before them!
Around the world in 16 races///the Worldloppet passport
Almost 500 passports are stamped each year in Mouthe! These 500 skiers
travel around the world to participate in some of the 16 long distance
cross-country skiing open events, such as la Marcialonga (Italy), the
Vasaloppet (Sweden)…)… Across the world, we register more than 12,000
passport owners among 125,588 Worldloppet participants. With this
passport it is possible to participate in all the Worldloppet events and
share with other enthusiasts advice, memories, experiences and
friendship…

A still more sustainable Transju
These past years La Transjurassienne has taken on a sustainable approach
to reduce its impact on the environment. In 2010, it won the 2nd prize
of the EcoSport Trophy that awards events with a strong involvement in
sustainable development! Trans’Organisation is now collaborating with
Groupe Tétras Jura to protect this emblematic animal and meet the strict
environmental rules. The organizers of La Transju also collaborate with
the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Jura to make the 2013 and the
following editions a symbol of the combination between sustainable
competition and popular event.

La Sapaudia/// From the bottom of the skiers’ hearts!
La Transjurassienne confirms once more its social involvement: for the
3rd consecutive year, skiers are encouraged to support la Sapaudia along
with famous athletes or Olympic Medalists, such as Franck Piccard,
Fabrice Guy or Sylvain Guillaume, as well as other champions from
various sports. Each participant is welcome to race under the colors of
the association to promote bone marrow donation and support all forms of
handicap.
