Over 100.000 visitors checked the Marcialonga website during the race week.
Scandinavians have been more than half of the skiers and…Net surfers. Cloud technology and mobile devices behind the Marcialonga web success. Visits on the race day increased by 40%. Marcialonga impresses everyone and … anywhere. The Italian long-distance cross country skiing event in Trentino region gathered over 7000 skiers last Sunday 29 January and among them there were several ski legends such as Petter Northug jr or the Aukland brothers.
Over half of the participants came from the Scandinavian Peninsula and were accompanied by families and friends who cheered them on along the 70k long course at the foot of beautiful Dolomites. And for those who stayed at home, no problem, the official Marcialonga website represented the first reference point.
Over 100.000 visitors (75% were unique visitors) checked the Marcialonga website (www.marcialonga.it) during the race week, and around 50.000 people got tuned on Sunday 29 January. In comparison with the last year’s data, there has been an increase by 40% on the race day and this was made possible by using the cloud computing technology that allowed many mobile devices (other than the traditional computers) to get much more easily connected to the Marcialonga event before, during and after the race.
