Some centimetres of new snow brought difficult waxing conditions to the teams. Many athletes decided to go just doublepoleing while world cup skiers like Richardsson or Jahujärvi were skiing with grip wax. “For sure it was a difficult decision if I should go with or without wax. Some steep uphills before the finish were pretty hard to climb just by doublepoleing but at least I managed it” says a satisfied Stanislav Rezac. Especially in Rezác’s mentioned final uphill, Swedish Richardsson and Finnish Jahujärvi set the final attack which brought many skiers into troubles.
“I could manage to keep the gap as small as possible. After some meters I felt really well and started a really strong finish sprint which brought me on 3rd place” so Rezác.
With Suther on 9th and Gerstenberger on 11th, the team started with some good results into the long distance season. “We’re pretty satisfied with today’s race and the results. Standa seems to be on the right way to get in his perfect shape, while Suther and Gerstenberger showed a solid performance which makes us confident about the upcoming races” says Marc Hager, Team Director.
Already on Sunday the next competition is waiting. A 42km Skating race which counts to the FIS Marathon cup opens the long distance skating season.
