The FIS Marathon Cup presented by Worldloppet has reached its half-way stage. After five of nine events, Anders Aukland, Joergen Aukland and Petter Northug, all from Norway and all having reached 160 points are currently in the lead in the men’s category. On the ladies’ side, Seraina Boner (SUI) 240 points, Tatjana Manimma (EST) 193 points and Antonella Confortola (ITA) 147 points represent a mixture of countries fighting for the top podium spots.

Next to the upcoming competition on 10th February in La Transjurassienne (FRA), the remaining races will include the 42nd Tartu Maraton in Estonia which recently set a new entry record. The event taking place on 17th February 2013 has altogether 8300 registered participants which represent the biggest number of enrolled skiers during the last 25 years.

In the current season, from 16th December 2012 until 11th March 2013, the FIS Marathon Cup races are taking place across eight different countries: Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia Germany, France, Italy and the United States.
