Today, 19th of February brought along open track 63, 31 and 16 km races of Tartu Maraton, 2nd Tartu Ski Relay and Tervis Pluss 12th Tartu Maraton Ladies’ Race. Altogether there were 1268 participants enrolled today from whom 620 persons (155 teams) took part in the relay marathon.
Open track was popular among foreigners too. Countries like Russia, Latvia, Czech, Great Britain, USA, Sweden, Finland, Italy, France and Ukraine were represented.
This means that Open Track race day is now Estonia’s second biggest skiing event for adults after Tartu Maraton.
151 women proved that 16 km race is feasible to everyone. “The feeling is great and I don’t even feel tired,” said a happy participant Annely Adermann. “This 16 km long course is perfect for enjoying the race and people around you. I definitely call everybody up to come and participate next year,” added Annely.
Kunnar Karu, project manager of Club Tartu Maraton says: “The “dress rehearsal” is an important part of the 42nd Tartu Maraton. As the preparations are the same for this weekend, it gives us a possibility to see the details and improve things for the main race where needed.” In order to offer the greatest marathon emotions, preparations for Tartu Maraton are going on with full power.
42nd Tartu Maraton takes place on the 17th of February 2013.
