The so called “Giants” are, in the opinion of the Worldloppet Board of Directors, World “Heroes” with right to receive the very special diploma created from our “Master Artist” Lino Davarda .

We are speaking of the 10 Super Super Masters, and under this the first Lady Liudmila, with 10 or more diplomas.

Hannes Larsson his 24th WL Master title, as he completed 240 WL races in career. “Of course it’s not the athletic performance that is being acknowledged with these diplomas”, French skier said, “but our efforts and persistence my excitement is the same as 35 years ago when I finished my first Worldloppet race.”

Jan Jasiewicz of Switzerland is as old as Larsson is (both turning 80 this year and both creators of the International Association of WL Skiers - IAWLS - in year 2000) and skied 17 WL Masters. He started his career as ski jumper and alpine skier in the Fifties, and “afterwards I decided to move to cross country”.

The diplomas were created by Lino Davarda, a local artist and a WL Master himself, and contain the name of the awarded skier, the number of Worldloppet races finished, all the Worldloppet races plus the Worldloppet logo and a drawing of classic skiers in action.

Israel’s Jan Vadlejch completed 20 WL Masters and was born in Prague 67 years ago. He is a nuclear engineer, but he loves XC skiing ever since. “In my career, I took part in 34 Vasaloppet races and I reckon the passion for this sport will never die”, said Vadlejch after the ceremony.

Speaking of passion and constant thrill of being part of the cross country world, Robert Palliser of Canada is the youngest of the awarded athletes, was born in 1946 and skied 15 WL Masters.

“It all started in early Nineties when I realised that my great passion was travelling and skiing, so I sold my private business and started my ‘WL career’, let’s say.”

Last, but of course not least, Corrado Ampezzan of Italy got his 14th WL title. He has also been travelling much in his life, and he is very thankful to the Worldloppet circuit. “I’ve been 22 times in America, 36 in Scandinavia and twice in Japan”, claimed the Italian skier, “but Marcialonga is still my favourite race together with Vasaloppet.”

And now THE FIRST LADY Liudmila, her story will appear in one of the next news on web just after she will awared of the title and diplom during a big fest in Moscow.
