This is Syktyvkar's Ermil Vokuyev's third gold podium finish in the classic style silver race in Demino. Classic style is his forte, and he confirmed this on the first day of spring in Demino. Bryansk's Alena Perevozchikova won the women's race, completing a gold double at the main race of the 19th Rostec Demino Ski Marathon.
More than 500 athletes entered the 30-kilometer Demino ski marathon. Five kilometers from the finish, the top three—Pavel Rusyayev, Andrey Alipkin, and Ermil Vokuyev—formed a clear line. It became clear that the athletes would decide the winning spots in the final meters of the race. Professional marathon runner Ermil Vokuyev made a powerful sprint and crossed the finish line a second ahead of his pursuers, finishing in 1 hour, 23 minutes, and 19 seconds. Now, his collection of Demino gold medals for 2023 and 2024 in the classic style will be supplemented by gold from the 2026 Rostec Demino Marathon. He finished second in the 50-kilometer freestyle yesterday.
"Second place yesterday was easier for me than first place today. The conditions were difficult. Some skied well, while others struggled," said Ermil Vokuyev, silver medalist at the 19th Rostec Demino Ski Marathon. "Marathons reveal new names, and that's always interesting."
The difference between second and third place in the men's classic race was less than a second. Ryazan's Andrei Alipkin took second place, while Nizhny Novgorod's Pavel Rusyaev took third.
Alena Perevozchikova topped the women's podium. Her super combo – gold and silver at the 19th Rostec Demino Marathon – was a triumph. Alena celebrated her victory in the classic style race with a significant lead over her rivals, finishing in 1 hour, 32 minutes, 6 seconds.
"Everything worked out. I didn't expect to win, since Yulia (Chekaleva) always runs the classic style, and I thought it would be tough against her today. But I feel good today, even better than yesterday. I started and finished at a good pace," said Alena Perevozchikova.
Yulia Chekaleva from Cherepovets took silver in the classic style race. Her time was 1 hour, 33 minutes, 54 seconds. Moscow's Maria Sidorova finished third with a finish time of 1 hour, 35 minutes, 53 seconds.
