On February 28, the winners of the 50-kilometer freestyle marathon in Demino were announced. Dmitry Bagrashov from Izhevsk crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 58 minutes, 38 seconds. Alyona Perevozchikova from Bryansk achieved the winning time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, 03 seconds.
The men's podium included representatives of three professional marathon teams: "Siyanie Severa," "Russkaya Zima," and "Romanov Team." At the finish line, split seconds decided the winner. A tense battle culminated in victory for Dmitry Bagrashov. For the Izhevsk representative, gold in the main race of the Demino Marathon was the greatest victory of his athletic career.
"I don't even know how I overtook Vokuyev; it was tough to keep up with him. Thank you for the opportunity to compete with such guys." "The race was dynamic, the skis skied well, the track was wide and firm, I really enjoyed it," said Dmitry Bagrashov, Demino gold medalist, at the finish.
Second place went to Ermil Vokuyev, winner of the Marchalonga Marathon. This was his first Demino Marathon in the skating style; he traditionally chooses the classic race and won in 2023 and 2024.
"It was nice to participate in my first marathon with such strong competitors. I arrived from Sakhalin yesterday and thought I wouldn't have my best result. But I got into the groove and showed my best. Tomorrow I'll compete in the classic style, and we'll fight for third place," said Ermil Vokuyev, an athlete from Syktyvkar.
Third place in the 50-kilometer Demino race went to Grigory Sokolov from Syktyvkar.
Alena Perevozchikova won first place in the women's race. She has been participating in the Demino Marathon since 2017, winning gold in the main race in 2019 and 2020.
"I have a high average speed, so I find guys in the race who are my equal and stay with them to the finish line. Four kilometers before the finish, they told me the girls were far away, so I went at my own pace," the winner shared her secret. "Overall, the marathon was tough. But I want to come to Demino for the unique atmosphere. It's a place where the soul finds rest."
Rybinsk athlete Svetlana Nikolaeva won silver in the main race. She finished two minutes behind the leader.
"Alena set a fast pace. I was able to keep up with her pace for 15 kilometers. I'm happy with my second place, and thank you all," the Rybinsk representative emphasized. Maria Davydenkova from the Moscow region took third place on the women's podium with a time of 2 hours, 13 minutes, 35 seconds.
Tomorrow, March 1, the final day of the 19th Rostec Demino Ski Marathon will conclude with a baby marathon, 2 km, and 30 km classic style races.
