Worldloppet Racer 2019 Philipp
For the upcoming season Worldloppet is sending out an own Worldloppet racer to the tracks of the world's biggest, longest & best ski marathons.
Pilipp Bachl is a Sports Management student from Austria & this winter he is going to support the Worldloppet family as an intern. As a former member of the Skimarathon Team Austria and participant in several Worldloppet races - and Ski Classics Competitions - he for sure has some knowledge and skills to enrich the Worldloppet family.
As Worldloppet Racer he is going to travel around the world, ski several Worldloppet races and show you his experience of skiing around the world.
So be prepared to see videos, pictures, interviews & articles from USA to Japan. And watch out, maybe he is coming for you & has some interview questions for you!
His goal for 2019? Clearly, becoming a Worldloppet Master! Can he make it? Let us know on Instagram & Facebook.
Storm demages at Marcialonga course
46th Marcialonga is not in danger
The huge damage following the storm at the end of October, which struck the North-East of Italy – especially the region of Trentino – did not spare the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys, which will host the 46th Marcialonga on January 27th.
After a careful inspection with the operating staff, the President Angelo Corradini gathered the people involved in the construction of the track and in the snow production to work together, in order to ensure the organisation of the race. More than 7,500 competitors from all over the world will take part.
The Long March will take place
The Province is working together in arranging the damaged cycle track that runs along the river Avisio, a major part of the Marcialonga tracks. From Moena to Cavalese, passing through Predazzo, Ziano and the territory of Molina, the damage can all be repaired. Many sections of the track have literally disappeared, but with the intervention of the Bacini Montani – also to secure the riverbed – of the municipalities and of the experts of Marcialonga everything will be rebuilt in record time.
3 km less at the 46th Marcialonga
There is only one stretch that seems impossible to be recovered, i.e. the first part of the track segment returning from Molina to Cascata, which has completely been engulfed by River Avisio. Thus, the 46th Marcialonga will probably be shortened by about 3 kilometres. The turning point will be set up in Maso Novelli, also thanks to the availability of the owners of the farm. Nothing changes from the technical point of view; it is a flat track before the steep climb of the Cascata, at the foot of which there will be the refreshment point, which is usually provided in Molina, and the last closing gate.
So, after a very long march 3 km less? Probably a gift for some brave skiers!
First snow arrives the Worldloppet destinations
During the past weeks the first snowflakes were falling at the venues of the Worldloppet federation. Sitzerland reports the first kilometers of skiable tracks, the Birkie is working on a 3 km loop at the startarea in Cable, Wisconsin, Iceland is already looking like a winterwonderland & we found elk tracks in the first snow of Demino/RUS.
On Facebook we want to keep you updated about the snow- & winter conditions at the ski trails all over the world. We created a special photo gallery - "snow/winter update" in which we are going to post pictures and information directly from the skiing destinations.
Of course we can't be everywhere, so we need your help. If you already ski somewhere or you have some winter updates for us, feel free to post it to our Facebook page. We are looking forward to it.
Cheap Tartu Maraton Entry Fee
In 3 Months, on the 17th of February, the 46th Tartu Maraton is taking place.

Cool renewals in the program will be announced very soon, so keep an eye on Tartu Maraton news.
Jizerska50 2019 almost sold out
Last season Jizerska Padesatka already announced a record participation, but it seems the record wouldn't last for a very long time. Already now, 5000 bibs are sold for 2019's edition, not even one-third remaining for the main race.
The 52nd Jizerska Padesatka is going to take place from the 8th to the 10th of February.
