On March 6, the gold race of XV Rostec Demino ski marathon took place near Rybinsk. 50-kilometer distance was conquered by about 2.5 thousand skiers - amateurs and professionals. The leaders of the race were Beijing Olympic champions Alexander Bolshunov and Natalya Nepryaeva.
The anniversary marathon brought together a record number of star guests and participants, Olympic champions of different years and sports: skiing, biathlon. The guests of honor are four-time Olympic champion Nikolay Zimyatov, three-time medalist of the Winter Olympic Games Alexander Zavyalov, silver medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games Anastasia Galashina. Champions and medalists of the Beijing 2022 Olympics Alexander Bolshunov, Natalya Nepryaeva, Alexey Chervotkin, Karim Khalili. Two-time Olympic champion Anna Bogaliy and 2010 Olympic champion Nikita Kryukov also took part.
Such a stellar line-up allowed us to hope for an interesting fight and an unforgettable finish. The track contributed to this.
The main intrigue of the golden race of the marathon from the first round was the question: will the record of the Demino course- 1 hour 45 minutes, set in 2016 by Evgeny Dementiev, be broken. The finish of Bolshunov dispelled the intrigue. The record was broken by one minute.
The best result among women was shown by the Olympic champion Natalya Nepryaeva. Her time is 1:55:03.
Under such conditions, the awards ceremony has become no less interesting and spectacular for participants and fans. Demino Square barely accommodated all the spectators. To the applause of the guests of the marathon, the winners received well-deserved awards. The prize fund, established by the long-term partner of the marathon - the state corporation Rostec, amounted to about a million rubles.
On March 7, the sports festival in Demino will continue with the 25 km silver race in the classic style, in which Olympic champions will also take part.
In front of them, the smallest participants in the “baby” category will go to the start of their first kilometer marathon. Then there will be junior races for 2 and 5 km. This year, age restrictions were removed for the ten-kilometer distance, which allowed skiing enthusiasts with varying degrees of training to become active participants in the sporting event - the Demino Marathon.
