On March 5, in the ski and biathlon center near Rybinsk, the winners of the silver race of the XVI International Rostec International Demino Ski Marathon for 25 kilometers were determined. It was attended by about 600 amateurs and professionals of the classic skiing style. According to the results, the leaders of the professional marathon team "Russian Winter" Ermil Vokuev and Olga Tsareva showed the best result at a distance.


 


The 25 km race in the program of the Demino Ski Marathon is traditionally held in the classical style. For its implementation, on the night before the start, a track is specially cut through. Classic is a difficult style for athletes, it requires the correct passing technique, therefore there are much fewer participants than in skating disciplines. However, the number of participants is growing every year. This year the organizers have again increased the number of slots, supporting the development of the classic ski school.


 


- I've been running "classic" all my life. This is the tradition of skiing and the basis of cross-country skiing. The basic training of skiers should start with the classic style, especially for children. It is good and right that the Demino marathon supports both styles: both skate and classic, - said the king of skis, four-time Olympic champion Nikolai Zimyatov.


 


The 2023 silver race was unconditionally won by the leader of the Russian Winter professional marathon team Ermil Vokuev. Until the last meters, the intrigue remained whether he would be able to beat the result of Alexander Bolshunov, who finished last year with a result of 1 hour 1 minute and 45 seconds. As a result, Ermil Vokuev lost to the Olympic champion in just 14 seconds.


 


- For the first time in Demino, I ran a half marathon, I liked it very much. Thanks to the service for the skis, I ran and worked well, - said the winner of the 25-kilometer race Ermil Vokuev at the finish line.


 


Yaroslavl's Maksim Cherezov, a regular participant in the Demino Marathon Super Cup, came second to the finish line. His result on the 25-kilometer track is 1 hour 3 minutes 18 seconds.


 


-Today is very good, it was easy to run. It is impossible to fight Ermil. He is one of the strongest in the world, but I am very pleased with my result, - Maxim Cherezov shared.


 


The third in the "classics" was the Tambov resident Alexander Kuzin, ahead of the nearest rival by two tenths of a second. He covered 25 kilometers in 1 hour 3 minutes 50 seconds.


 


- I just applied for the race today, because I tested a new lubricant, with which the skis went very well. There were free slots for "classics", and I decided to try. As it turned out, successfully. Literally at the finish line, he snatched his victory, - said Alexander Kuzin.
