On March 2, the winners of the silver race of the XVIII International Rostec Demino Ski Marathon were determined at the Demino Ski and Biathlon Center near Rybinsk. About 600 amateurs and professionals of classical skiing style took part in the 30-kilometer race. Evgeny Tsepkov from Pereslavets and Milena Gabusheva from the Komi Republic became the best on the distance.
Conducting a classic style race requires additional preparation from the organizers. On the night before the start the track is specially cut. Classics is a difficult style for athletes, it requires the right technique of passing.
This year the silver distance of the Demino Marathon has been increased to 30 kilometers. The winner of the 50-kilometer gold race Alexey Shemyakin, representing the Arkhangelsk region, was the leader of the race almost the whole distance. As on the golden distance, on the last kilometers before the finish the three leaders were determined - Shemyakin, Alipkin and Tsepkov. And again the dispute for the champion's title unfolded at the finish line. The final meters of the distance decided the fate of the first place. Evgeny Tsepkov took the lead with a powerful spurt.
- He managed not only to get on the podium, but also to beat such mastodons as Shemyakin and Alipkin. But they were “on the nightstand” yesterday, I will stand today. The track is prepared perfectly. For such amount of snow, as this winter, it is probably impossible to achieve the best, - shared his impressions at the finish line representative of Pereslavl-Zalessky Evgeny Tsepkov.
Alexey Shemyakin, winner of the main race of the XVIII International Rostec Demino Ski Marathon, came second in the classic style race, and Andrei Alipkin, who came second in the 50-kilometer race on March 1, was third.
In the women's race Milena Gabusheva of the Russian Winter team took first place. Immediately after the Demino Marathon the athlete will go to the professional starts of the Russian Championship in Kazan.
- I liked the organization of the marathon, the atmosphere, the track. Taking into account that there is no snow in the city, the organizers did more than possible, and we appreciate it very much. In the race I tried to get away from the pursuers, but I saved my strength, - said the winner at the finish line.
The second was Vologda skier Yulia Chekaleva, the third was Moscow skier Maria Sidorova.
