On February 11 and 12, Demino Classics competition took place in Demino. They are held for the third year in a row and gather more and more participants.
About 300 skiing enthusiasts from eight regions of the country - Yaroslavl, Vologda, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Penza, Arkhangelsk regions, Moscow and St. Petersburg came to the ski and biathlon center. The program includes starts at distances of 5, 10, 15 and 30 kilometers, as well as a fifteen-kilometer night race.
- "Demino" has firmly secured for itself not only the title of a professional sports training center and a modern competitive center. This is a place for the development of mass sports, where both professionals and ski lovers can evaluate their capabilities, try their hand at one of the best tracks in the country. This year we slightly changed the circle, making it more difficult in the first part, thereby equalizing the chances of the “classics” and doublepolling fans. It's great that the number of participants is growing every year. We will expand the age categories in order to attract as many people as possible to skiing, - said Igor Samoylov, the director of Demino Marathons.
Demino Classics program included two more children's freestyle races, which were canceled in January due to Christmas frosts. The struggle in each discipline unfolded tense. The winner of the five-kilometer race for men had to be determined by the photo finish. The most striking was the night race. It takes place in the dark, and a mandatory element of equipment is a headlamp. During the start it began to snow, which also added to the impressions in the night forest.
- Everything was great: atmosphere, serious opponents, interesting format. The distance is not difficult, I rode for pleasure and kept in mind the plan of work for the second part of the distance. But in the final segment, the muscles became sour, it was a bit short before the victory, but I am also happy with the second place, - said the participant and co-organizer of the race Evgeniy Kochegarov.
The classic race tracks run in a marathon circle, which allows the organizers to check his preparation before international starts. Snowfalls are expected in the Yaroslavl region in the coming weeks, so work on the formation of the ski track will continue.
