On March 3, the most massive ski marathon in the country in terms of the number of finishers started in the Yaroslavl region. This year almost five thousand people from seven countries and 57 regions of Russia applied for participation. The first marathon day revealed the winners of the 5K and 10K freestyle races.


The five-kilometer race was attended by young skiers aged 12-14 from the Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Vologda, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Belgorod, Murom, Vladimir, Bryansk, Chelyabinsk regions, the Chuvash Republic.


The winner of the race was Timur Shakirzyanov, the son of a professional marathon runner, multiple winner and prize-winner of the Demino marathon Raul Shakirzyanov. He covered the distance of five kilometers in 12 minutes 19 seconds.


  - The track is the best, thanks to all the organizers. I really like the Demino marathon, I am participating for the third time. I hope dad will repeat my result in the 50 km race tomorrow. I will cheer for him, - said the leader at the finish line.




Stepan Denisovsky from Vologda was second, seven seconds behind the leader. In third place is Semyon Belyakov from Desnogorsk with a score of 12:32.


  Among girls, the best results were achieved by athletes from Bryansk Sofia Kolesnikova (13:37), Alexandra Mochaeva (13:41) and Anastasia Pushkina from Vologda (13:42).


About 600 participants over the age of 15 conquered the 10-kilometer distance. Vladimir Smirnov, a 35-year-old Kostroma resident, became the leader of the distance with a score of 21 minutes 24 seconds.


- I tried to work out the second lift, because it is heavy. And we have a group of six leaders. I let one participant go ahead, so we went together. We rolled out onto the plain, my skis worked better here, - shared the winner of the ten-kilometer race Vladimir Smirnov at the finish line.


Leaving the winner four seconds behind, Konstantin Pakhtyshev from Dmitrov was second. The third is Kirill Emelin from Rybinsk. His result is 22 minutes 13 seconds.


In the women's race, the first place was taken by Zlata Tarakanova, representing Yaroslavl. Her result is 24 minutes 21 seconds. Veronica Tarasova (Yefremov) was second, she covered 10 kilometers in 25 minutes 04 seconds. Third - Muscovite Maria Efimova with a score of 25:05.


Despite the working day, about two thousand fans came to Demino. The participants finished under the deafening support of the fans.


On March 4, the Demino ski and biathlon center will host a 50-kilometer gold marathon race. Places for it ended a month before the start. 2,800 people will take this distance, which is an absolute record for Russian ski marathons.


Rostec Demino ski marathon is the largest ski marathon in Russia. Russialoppet leader in terms of the number of finishers in the main race. In the 2022 season, the winners of the Demino ski marathon at a distance of 50 km were Alexander Bolshunov and Natalya Nepryaeva.
