On March 6, in the city of Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region, Demino Ski Sport Center hosted the start of the most massive in Russia - XV International Rostec Demino Ski Marathon.
This year, Rostec Demino Marathon broke the record for the number of participants. There were no empty slots for a month before the start. More than 4,000 people applied. About 2,500 professionals and amateurs of skiing from Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic and 61 regions of Russia came to the start of the golden race for 50 kilometers.
Champions and medalists of the Beijing 2022 Olympics Alexander Bolshunov, Natalya Nepryaeva, Alexey Chervotkin, Karim Khalili take part in the races together with amateurs. Also in the Elite category are two-time Olympic champion Anna Bogaliy, 2010 Olympic champion Nikita Kryukov, Vancouver bronze medalists Natalia Korosteleva and Alexei Petukhov. The start of the main 50 km marathon race was given by Acting Governor of the Yaroslavl Region Mikhail Evraev.
The participants were also greeted by honored guests - four-time Olympic champion Nikolai Zimyatov, three-time medalist of the Winter Olympic Games Alexander Zavyalov, silver medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games Anastasia Galashina. The largest ski marathon in Russia has been supported by Rostec State Corporation for several years now.
Participants started in waves of 300 people. They have to overcome two laps of 25 kilometers. The first finishers are expected at the finish line in less than two hours. Feeding stations are provided on the course, where athletes can recuperate. It is noteworthy that the plastic bottles in which marathon runners receive drinks will be recycled.
