On March 1, the first races of the XVII International Rostec Demino Ski Marathon took place at the Demino Ski and Biathlon Center.
This year about five thousand professional marathon runners, beginners and amateur skiers from nine countries, 60 regions of Russia, 594 cities registered for participation. Six races will be held during three days. The skiing festival was opened by young athletes on a five-kilometer distance and participants of ten-kilometer free style starts.
- For the second year in a row the marathon festival is held in three days instead of two. This format of holding the most mass ski marathon in Russia has fully justified itself. It is convenient for both participants and organizers. Our task is to make the Rostec Demi Marathon not only the largest, but also the most comfortable. This year we took into account the wishes of the participants and divided the junior starts into men's and women's, - said Igor Samoylov, Director of the Demino Marathons.
On the first day the pupils of sports schools took to the start line for a distance of five kilometers. Then the baton was taken by the participants of the 10 km freestyle race. About a thousand people will take part in the races of the first day.
Four thousand spectators passed the mandatory registration. A cultural and entertainment program is prepared for them, trade fairs - sporting goods and souvenirs, food courts. Sports journalists Andrei Arykh and Maria Korobova are commenting on the race.
Rostec Demino Ski Marathon is the most mass ski marathon in Russia. The leader of the Russialoppet rating in terms of the number of finishers in the main race. In the 2023 season, the winners of the Deminsky Ski Marathon at a distance of 50 km were Andrei Alipkin and Elizaveta Pantrina. The course record on the marathon distance - 01:44:06 - belongs to Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov. The general partner of the marathon is the state company ROSOBORONEXPORT.
