The XVIII International Rostec Demino Ski Marathon will be held in Rybinsk on February 28, March 1 and 2. It will traditionally gather in the Demino Ski and Biathlon Center thousands of professionals and amateurs both on the track and in the stands. This year's program will include an additional race, the course has been changed, and there are other important innovations.
Rostec Demino Marathon once again expands its geography. This year representatives of 84 regions of Russia have registered. Olympic champions and medalists, the country's strongest marathon runners, professional teams and skiing enthusiasts will come to the Yaroslavl region. The marathon retains its international status: participants from the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia and Slovakia are planning to take part in the race.
- Rostec Demino Ski Marathon is the most popular ski marathon in Russia. According to the results of last year, 2,514 people finished the main 50-kilometer race, which is a record for the country. We appreciate such trust and take all measures to ensure the traditionally high level of competitions in terms of organization of starts, safety, convenience and comfort of participants and spectators. We create infrastructure, provide transportation accessibility, support professional and amateur sports in the region. We have big plans for the further development of Demino so that the center retains its status of the sports capital of the region, - said the Governor of the Yaroslavl Region Mikhail Evraev.
The XVIII International Rostec Demino Ski Marathon will be held in the format of a three-day sports and family festival and will include seven races. In addition, a new 30 kilometer freestyle distance has been introduced. Also participants of the “silver race” in classic style this year will have to overcome not 25 kilometers, but 30. This opens up the possibility for the athletes to be awarded grades. Changes have been made to the main start at 50 kilometers: instead of two laps of 25 kilometers marathoners will run 30 and 20 kilometers. Two sections have been widened so that athletes could pass the famous Demino slopes more safely and comfortably. Also in the program of the festival are satellite races at 5 and 10 kilometers, distances for young skiers - at 1 and 2 kilometers.
- Now all efforts are focused on the preparation of the track. The warm winter is testing the strength, and colleagues from other regions have already canceled the starts. We have managed to form a snow cushion, the training lap is open. On the most melted places we bring snow from the forest and spread it by hand. In conditions of sub-zero temperatures we use cannons to form artificial snow reserves at the stadium, - said about the condition of the track Igor Samoylov, director of the Demino Marathons president of the Yaroslavl Region Ski Racing Federation.
For the first time cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of the 30-kilometer classic style race. The formation in the starting zone has been introduced. Athletes will take places strictly by numbers in all waves. A total of 64 races will be held over three competition days in Demino.
