Russia's largest ski marathon is taking place near Rybinsk this weekend. From March 1-3, about five thousand skiers - professionals and amateurs - gathered at the Demino Ski and Biathlon Center to test their strength on the Demino slopes. March 2 was the day of the golden race for 50 kilometers. It was started by the Governor of the Yaroslavl Region Mikhail Evraev.
The XVII Rostec Demi Ski Marathon gathered participants from 60 regions of the country and nine countries of the world - Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia.
Olympic champions and medalists - Alexander Bolshunov, Denis Spitsov, Nikolay Morilov, Alexey Chervotkin, Alexander Terentyev, representatives of the professional team "Russian Winter", representatives of marathons of the past years - Andrey Alipkin, Raul Shakirzyanov, Dmitry Kondrashov - are taking part in the golden race.
The start of the 17th marathon race was given by the Governor of the Yaroslavl Region Mikhail Evraev.
- Rostec Demino Marathon unites those who are just taking their first steps in the sport and those who have been skiing all their lives. I know that the youngest participant turned 4 years old the other day, and the oldest is 86! Families come, parents come out with their children.
