The anniversary Rostec Demino marathon, held near Rybinsk on March 6 and 7, 2022, was marked by a record number of participants, a constellation of Olympic stars from different years and a victorious double by Alexander Bolshunov, who set a new record for the golden race for 50 kilometers.
 
The fact that XV Rostec Demino ski marathon will become the most massive in the history of Demino became clear a month before the start: the slots for all six races ended. More than four thousand skiers - athletes and amateurs from six countries of the world and 61 regions of Russia have applied for participation in a world-class sports event.
 
A week before the start, the Russian national cross-country skiing team announced its participation in the marathon. Alexander Bolshunov, Alexey Chervotkin, Natalya Nepryaeva, Gleb Retivykh, biathlete Karim Khalili took to the first starts after Beijing. On the Demino ski track, Olympic medalists of different years came together in wrestling - Vancouver 2010 medalist Nikolai Morilov, 2010 Olympic champion Nikita Kryukov, two-time Olympic champion, biathlete Anna Bogaliy.
 

Four-time Olympic champion Nikolay Zimyatov, three-time winner of the Winter Olympic Games Alexander Zavyalov, silver medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games Anastasia Galashina supported the Demino Marathon with their participation. The marathon was opened by Acting Governor of the Yaroslavl Region Mikhail Evraev.
 
The main intrigue of the first marathon day was the track record. Will Alexander Bolshunov be able to surpass the achievement of Evgeny Dementiev in 2016, who covered 50 kilometers in 1 hour and 45 minutes? The three-time Olympic champion in Beijing 2022 fully met the expectations of the fans, finishing a minute earlier. Thus, the "king of skis" set a new course record - 1 hour 44 minutes.

 
Gleb Retivykh became the second finisher of the Demino marathon, losing 3 minutes 55 seconds to the leader of the race. The winner of the X and XIII Demino marathons Raul Shakirzyanov came third to the finish line.
 
In the women's race, Beijing Olympic champion Natalya Nepryaeva, quite expectedly, became the leader. Her result is 1 hour 55 minutes 03 seconds. The fate of the second and third places in the women's race was decided by just 0.4 seconds. Ekaterina Smirnova, a representative of the Tyumen region, has a result of 01:56:37, and Maria Istomina from the Perm region has 01:56:38.
 
At the press conference Yuriy Borodavko, the coach of the winners, noted the level of organization of the marathon and the quality of the course preparation. According to the mentor, he considers Demino as a place for training skiers of the Russian national team.
 
On March 7, in the 25 km race, Alexander Bolshunov won again, making a marathon double. He covered the silver 25 km track in 1 hour 1 minute and 45 seconds. The second in the classics of the XV Rostec Demino marathon was a pupil of the Rybinsk sports school No. 4 Nikita Khabarov. He lost less than a minute to the leader of the race, his result is 1 hour 2 minutes 44 seconds. The third finisher of the Rostec Demino Marathon 2022 was Artem Nikolaev from Tatarstan, only 2 seconds behind Nikita Khabarov.
 
The women's podium was headed by Aliya Iksanova with the result of 1 hour 12 minutes 35 seconds. The second was Svetlana Zaborskaya, covering 25 kilometers in the classical style in 1 hour 14 minutes 09 seconds. Third - Rada Tarasenko, her finish time is 1 hour 14 minutes 18 seconds.
